I’ve had a sweet craving recently and now that we are in the hot muggy days of summer I thought what could be better that cake and ice cream?  We are having friends over for a cookout and we’ve got hamburgers & corn on the grill, coleslaw and potato salad but I wanted something DIFFERENT for dessert

Dr. Pepper Donuts

  1. 1½ cups flour
  2. ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  3. 1 tsp baking powder
  4. ½ tsp salt
  5. 2 eggs
  6. ⅔ cup sugar
  7. 1 tsp vanilla
  8. ¾ cup of Dr. Pepper
  9. 2 tbsp canola oil

Dr. Pepper Glaze

  1. ¼ cup unsalted butter
  2. 3 tbsp of Dr. Pepper
  3. 2½ cups powdered sugar
  4. 1 tsp vanilla
  5. ½ tsp salt

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • Add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt in a bowl and mix together.
  • Next add the eggs, sugar, vanilla, Dr. Pepper and oil together.
  • Spray the doughnut pan with cooking spray for baking.
  • Bake 10-12 minutes at 325 degrees.
  • Remove from oven and place onto a wire rack.
  • My donuts came out of the pan very easily.
  • Allow the donuts to cool.
