HOMEMADE STIR FRY SAUCE

Vegetable stir fry is a go-to meal in our house. We love it because it packs in lots of veggies and whole grains (brown rice or quinoa) and you can add any protein you like (for us it’s usually chicken). It’s quick, it’s filling and it makes for some good leftovers. However, what makes it REALLY good is the sweet and savory homemade stir fry sauce that gets poured overtop and soaks into the veggies and rice. YUM.

HOMEMADE STIR FRY SAUCE
Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce or amino acids
  • 1 tbsp vinegar (I used balsamic, but any will do)
  • 1 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • 3/4 tbsp flour (I used whole wheat, avoid enriched white)
  • 1/8 tsp ground ginger
  • Dash of red pepper flakes (or sub 1/4 tsp hot sauce...or more if you like heat!)

Instructions
  • Whisk all ingredients together in a small bowl and pour over vegetables while frying. Or use for other recipes like marinated meat or as a sauce in rice bowls.
